Nadifloxacin is a pyridoquinoline, a hydroxypiperidine, a heteroarylpiperidine, and a quinolone antibiotic. It has a role as an antibacterial drug. Nadifloxacin is used in the topical treatment of acne and bacterial skin infections. In therapy, nadifloxacin is used as a racemic mixture of R-enantiomers and S-enantiomers. The S-enantiomer (levonadifloxacin) has been studied as a parenteral formulation in the form of L-arginine salt for intravenous (IV) administration for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI), community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP), and other types of infections. Levonadifloxacin has been approved in India for the treatment of ABSSSI.
