Niclosamide is an orally bioavailable chlorinated salicylanilide with anthelmintic and potential antineoplastic activity. It is used for the treatment of beef tapeworm (Taenia saginata), pork tapeworm (Taenia solium), fish tapeworm (Diphyllobothrium latum), dog tapeworm (Dipylidium caninum), and dwarf tapeworm (Hymenolepis nana) infections in adults and children. Niclosamide is also used as a molluscicide in the control of schistosomiasis.
