Nifuroxazide is a member of the benzoic acids group of intestinal anti-infective drugs. It is available as an over the counter medication for the treatment of acute diarrhea of bacterial origin with no signs of an invasive disease such as change in general condition, fever or infectious-toxic symptoms, or blood in the stool, in adults and children over 2 years old. Nifuroxazide is not currently marketed in the US.
