As a sodium salt, PPS is indicated for the relief of bladder pain or discomfort associated with interstitial cystitis. Pentosan is also used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of lameness and pain of osteoarthritis (noninfectious arthrosis) and related musculoskeletal disorders by therapeutic activity on the underlying pathological processes (disease modifying osteoarthritis drug) in dogs.
