Pergolide is a long-acting dopamine agonist indicated as adjunctive treatment to levodopa (l-dopa)/carbidopa in the management of Parkinson's disease. Pergolide mesylate is marketed as a generic drug and was previously marketed under the trade name Permax®. It was withdrawn from the United States and Canadian markets in 2007 due to an increased risk of cardiac valvulopathy (heart valve damage).
