Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to phloroglucinol dihydrate (CAS RN 6099-90-7) and phloroglucinol trimethyl ether (CAS RN 621-23-8). Phloroglucinol is a phenol derivative with antispasmodic properties that is used primarily as a laboratory reagent. Phloroglucinol is primarily indicated in conditions such as biliary spasm, dysmenorrhea, gastrointestinal (GI) motility disorder, smooth muscle spasm, urinary spasm and uterine spasm. Phloroglucinol (1,3,5-trihydroxybenzene) is also used in veterinary medicine preferentially by intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) injection for its spasmolytic properties against the urinary tract. One of its ethers, the trimethylphloroglucinol, is also used.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
