Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to pimavanserin tartrate (CAS RN 706782-28-7). Pimavanserin is an atypical antipsychotic indicated for use in the treatment of neurologic disorders, hallucinations and delusions in people with psychosis from Parkinson’s disease (PD), schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders, and sleep disorders. The mechanism of action of pimavanserin in the treatment of hallucinations and delusions associated with Parkinson’s disease psychosis is unclear. However, the effect could be mediated through a combination of inverse agonist and antagonist activity at serotonin 5- HT2A receptors and to a lesser extent at serotonin 5-HT2C receptors.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
