Please note, this monograph also applies to pimobendan hydrochloride (CAS RN 77469-98-8). Pimobendan is a pyridazinone and a member of benzimidazoles (2). It is a calcium sensitizer and selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 3 (PDE3) with positive inotropic and vasodilator effects. It is approved in Japan for the treatment of acute cardiac failure and mild to moderate chronic heart failure.
