Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to procaterol (CAS RN 6929-91-3) and procaterol hydrochloride (CAS RN 59828-07-8). Procaterol is a long-acting β2-adrenergic receptor agonist indicated for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Procaterol is a potent bronchodilator. β2-adrenergic stimulation in the lung causes relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle, bronchodilation, and increased bronchial airflow. In vitro and in vivo pharmacologic studies suggest that procaterol has preferential effect on β2-adrenergic receptors with little effect on β1-adrenergic receptors.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value, the acceptable surface limit (ASL), and the Permitted Daily Exposure (PDE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
