Promazine is a phenothiazine with actions similar to those of chlorpromazine. It has relatively weak antipsychotic activity and is not generally used for the management of psychoses. It is mainly used as an adjunct for short-term treatment of moderate and severe psychomotor agitation and as an antiemetic. Promazine is also used to treat agitation or restlessness in the elderly.
