Sodium fluoride is an inorganic chemical compound that is a source of the fluoride ion in many applications. Sodium fluoride is an ingredient of various dental preparations used to support tooth mineralization and the prevention of dental caries. It is also applied to drinking water for the same indications. Sodium fluoride may be found in a variety of over the counter (OTC) products, including gels, varnishes, rinses, toothpaste products, and fluoride treatments provided in dental care. Fluoride supplements in the form of tablets and other formulas may be prescribed to prevent tooth decay in high-risk children aged 6 months to 16 years of age whose drinking water source contains low fluoride concentrations.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
