Solithromycin is a next-generation oral and intravenous fluoroketolide, active against aerobic and anaerobic gram-positive cocci, in clinical development for the treatment of moderate to moderately severe community acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP). Solithromycin inhibits bacterial translation by binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA preventing the offending bacteria from synthesizing proteins.
