Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to sumatriptan succinate (CAS RN 103628-48-4) and Sumatriptan hemisulfate (CAS RN 143675-45-0). Sumatriptan is indicated to treat migraine headache. Sumatriptan, a selective 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) receptor subtype agonist, exerts its effect by stimulating vasoconstriction in the basilar artery and blood vessels in the brain. This action is presumed to result in the relief of a migraine headache. It exhibits a weak affinity for 5-HT-1A, 5-HT-5A and 5-HT-7 receptors and has no pharmacologic activity at dopamine-1, dopamine-2, muscarinic, or benzodiazepine receptors, or even at 5-HT-2, 5-HT- 3, or 5-HT-4 receptor subtypes.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
