Tafamidis is indicated for the treatment of transthyretin amyloidosis in adult patients with symptomatic polyneuropathy. Tafamidis binds to and stabilizes transthyretin tetramers preventing the amyloidogenic cascade that is considered responsible for the symptoms associated with transthyretinrelated amyloidosis. The inhibition of this cascade of transthyretin dissociation slows the progression of the disease.
