Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to Temozolomide acid (CAS RN 113942-30-6). Temozolomide (TMZ) is a triazene analog of dacarbazine with antineoplastic activity. As a cytotoxic alkylating agent, TMZ is converted at physiologic pH to the short-lived active compound, monomethyl triazeno imidazole carboxamide. Temozolomide (TMZ) is indicated in adult patients for the treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma concomitantly with radiotherapy and for use as maintenance treatment thereafter. It is also indicated for the treatment of refractory anaplastic astrocytoma in adult patients who have experienced disease progression on a drug regimen containing nitrosourea and procarbazine.
