Please note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to ticlopidine hydrochloride (CAS RN 53885-35- 1). Ticlopidine is a platelet aggregation inhibitor indicated to reduce the risk of thrombotic stroke (fatal or nonfatal) in patients who have experienced stroke precursors and in patients who have had a completed thrombotic stroke. Because ticlopidine is associated with a risk of life-threatening blood dyscrasias including thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), neutropenia/agranulocytosis, and aplastic anemia, ticlopidine should be reserved for patients who are intolerant or allergic to aspirin (ASA) therapy or who have failed aspirin therapy. Ticlopidine is also indicated as adjunctive therapy with aspirin to reduce the incidence of subacute stent thrombosis in patients undergoing successful coronary stent implantation.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
