Tirzepatide is a novel dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. Tirzepatide is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes and in the chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related condition, such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea, or cardiovascular disease. In Europe, it may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other drugs used to treat diabetes.
