Tolfenamic acid is an orally available, benzoic acid derivative and a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) with anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic and potential antineoplastic activities. In human medicine, tolfenamic acid is indicated for the acute attack of migraines in adults. Tolfenamic acid is also approved for used in cats, dogs, horses, cattle and pigs. Tolfenamic acid was granted the status of orphan medicine by the European Medicine Agency (EMA) for the treatment of supranuclear palsy.
