Note, this OEL/ADE monograph also applies to tolterodine tartrate (CAS RN 124937-52-6), tolterodine hydrochloride (CAS RN 124936-75-0), and tolterodine fumarate (CAS RN 615254-93-8). Tolterodine is a cholinergic and muscarinic antagonist indicated for the treatment of overactive bladder with urinary frequency, urgency, and urge incontinence. Tolterodine, a competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist, has a high binding affinity for the cholinergic muscarinic receptors that mediates contraction of the urinary bladder and enhances salivation. Tolterodine exerts its effects on the lower urinary tract by increasing the residual urine and decreasing detrusor pressure. It has a low affinity for other neurotransmitter receptors and other possible targets like calcium channels.
Affygility Solutions has an occupational exposure limit (OEL) and control band assignment for this active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). This monograph also contains the acceptable daily exposure (ADE) value.
OEL Fastrac monographs are a cost-effective and convenient way to meet the requirements for PDEs (ADEs) contained in the EMA Guideline on setting health based exposure limits for use in risk identification in the manufacture of different medicinal products in shared facilities (EMA/CHMP/CVMP/SWP/169430/2012), as well as PIC/S and ANVISA requirements, and to obtain the following information:
