Valrubicin is a semisynthetic derivative of the antineoplastic anthracycline antibiotic doxorubicin. It is a chemotherapy drug used for carcinoma in situ (CIS) of the bladder refractory to Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine when surgery is contra-indicated, although only about 20% of such patients exhibit a complete response.
