Voclosporin is a novel cyclosporine analog and immunosuppressive compound currently being investigated for the treatment of psoriasis and for the prevention of organ rejection in kidney transplant patients. Voclosporin is structurally identical to cyclosporine A (CsA), except for a modification of a functional group on the amino acid-1 residue of the molecule. This alteration has changed the binding of voclosporin to calcineurin (CN), leading to a molecule with a presumed higher potency when compared to CsA.
